As the Director of Coffee Service, I am responsible for the development of educational programs, materials, and website information that is relevant to the challenges the members face daily. We have coffee service members that have been in business for decades and we also have members that have been in business for one year or one month. The programs and the materials we develop must be of benefit to everyone. Our most recognized program is the Quality Coffee Certification Program (QCCP). It is in its eigth year and over 700 operators, sales managers, sales people, members and non-members have completed the course. It is offered the day before the National Expo and the Spring Expo. In February 2008 we held our first annual Coffee Service Education Summit. It was “all about coffee” and the coffee service operator. The event featured five educational session that addressed increasing the sales ticket, water filtration, point-of-use water coolers, eliminating mistakes when hiring, technology for coffee service, coffee sustainability and going green. Attending were operators, suppliers, distributors, and manufactures from all over the United States and Canada. Watch for details surrounding the 2009 Coffee Service Education Summit. If you have attended the expos you know that we have coffee service specific educational sessions, lead by industry leaders. These are sessions that operators and members have told us they want.
