Chicago Illinois Legislation Reduces Pricing for McCormick Place Exhibitors
ALL NAMA 2011 OneShow exhibitors will benefit from the new Illinois legislation that requires Chicago unions and McCormick Place to reduce labor fees, food and beverage costs and allow exhibitors many more hands-on exhibitor rights allowing for bottom line cost reductions for exhibitors of all sizes.
Effective August 1, 2010, the new legislation was implemented with changes in the following areas:
- Standardized Straight, Over and Double-Time windows
- Expanded Exhibitor Rights
- Reduced Electrical Costs
- Decreased Food and Beverage Costs
- Personal Vehicle Delivery Policy
These changes are significant and put Chicago back in line with other major convention cities. The most exciting part of this legislation is the direct, positive impact we expect these price reductions to have for our exhibitors. NAMA is please to have had a voice with key decision makers as this legislations was written and passed.
Highlights of the changes are posted in the PDF's on the left. All OneShow exhibitors should download the cost saving details which will help in budget planning for 2011.
GES and NAMA will continue to monitor the labor change progress and keep our exhibitors fully informed.
In addition to our own monitoring, MPEA (McCormick Place) will have an on-site facility floor manager on our show floor interacting with show management, exhibitors and labor stewards. An independent auditor will be hired to review MPEA show activity and billing and a separate Exhibitor Advisory Council will be created by MPEA to make ensure the continued voice of their customers.
