2008 NAMA Supervisor Development Program October 15 - 17, 2008 Will be offered in conjunction with the NAMA National Expo in St. Louis, Missouri The NAMA Supervisor Development Program is for recently appointed/experienced supervisors, entry-level managers, operation managers, new district managers and sales representatives accountable for the organization unit. Future leadership requires an extraordinary skill set to meet the challenges of a fast-forward world. NAMA has developed this 3-day program specifically for newly appointed, as well as experienced, supervisors and managers and is designed to help them develop the skills, equipping them with tools, goals and training they need to become effective team leaders and ultimately help push the company into unprecedented levels of new growth and prosperity. Some of the topics covered are: Decision-making, Time Management, Communication, Personal Selling Skills, Leadership, Negotiations, Working with Customers, Safety/Security, Food Handling and an Accounting overview. Many sessions are interactive and mini cases will be incorporated into class discussion. - Identify strategies that lead to change in your organization to positively impact your business practices
- Develop managerial knowledge and understanding of the latest business practices and concepts
- Enhance your skills to become a more effective manager
- Network and brainstorm with other industry peers through classroom discussion and interactive case studies
- Develop strategies that enhance overall company performance

Below is a list of our faculty members that are involved with adding their high-level expertise to the Supervisor Development Program. Participation varies for each session. Jim Brinton, NCE is the President of Evergreen Food Services. Jim is an experienced vending and OCS executive whose hard work and initiative developed the Northwest’s largest independently owned full-time vending operation. Currently, Jim serves on the NAMA Board of Directors and has served as Chairman of the NAMA Spring Expo.
Ronald F. Cichy, Ph.D., NCE, CHA, CHE is The School of Hospitality Business director at Michigan State University and one of its professors. Dr. Cichy is a recognized researcher and authority on leadership qualities of hospitality leaders spanning all segments of the industry. Richard M. Geerdes, NCE is the NAMA President & CEO. Rich joined the staff of NAMA following his experience in a series of vending/foodservice management positions with Interstate United and Canteen Corporation. Dean R. Gilland, NCE is the Vice President of Sales & Service. Dean is an experienced senior management executive with over 35 years of sales and marketing experience. Prior to joining NAMA, he spent 30 years with Scott Paper Company as their Vice President of Sales. Joann Gonos, PHR is the Manager, Human Resources for the National Automatic Merchandising Association. Joann is responsible for recruiting and hiring, creating policies and procedures, managing all benefit programs, employee training, coaching/counseling and employee relations.
Rick Leffke is the President of R.C. Leffke & Associates. With a proven track record and and genuine style of teaching, Rick has been selling and delivering world class management and sales training for over 25 years. Michael Kasavana, Ph.D., CHTP, NCE is the NAMA professor in The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University and holds the CHTP (Certified Hospitality Technology Professional) certification. He continues research into the current and near future developments of electronic commerce and transaction processing technology. Dan H. Mathews, NCE is the Executive Vice President and COO for NAMA. Dan is a problem-solver and business improvement specialist recognized for the ability to develop people and dedicated to helping organizations and individuals achieve more of their goals more often. Maggie Shah is the Manager, Health & Safety Services for NAMA. He is in charge of informing and educating vending operators, machine manufacturers, and regulatory officials on matters relating to health and safety. Jeff R. Parks, NCE is the President of C.L. Swanson Corporation. Jeff has an extensive background in operations, business development and customer relations. Prior to joining C.L. Swanson, Jeff had executive-level experience in vending, dining and coffee services with Marriott Corporation and ARAMARK Corporation.
Josh Patrick is the President of The Patrick Group. He has experience with national planning and marketing organization specializing in strategies for customers who can take advantage of planning strategies that can leverage their personal and corporate wealth.
Jim Proebstle is the President & Founder of Prodyne, Inc. Jim's 30-year career has included increasing responsibilities in large and middle-market organizations in the information systems and computer industries. He has experience in direct sales operations, management and sales training, marketing, and total quality management. |
