Automatic Merchandising Health-Industry Council
AMHIC is an advisory group set up to oversee the NAMA Vending Machine Evaluation Program established in 1957. Only food and beverage vending machines are evaluated and certified meeting the requirements set forth in the NAMA ³Standard for the Sanitary Design and Construction of Food and Beverage Vending Machines.² AMHIC is comprised of 12 representatives from local, state and federal regulatory agencies, and 12 representatives from machine manufacturers, operators and industry suppliers.

Certification Commission
The Certification Commission was launched to increase awareness throughout the industry of the NAMA Certified Executive and other certification programs. The committee represents the industry in the continuous improvement of certification practices, oversees all certification policies and procedures and helps to promote all certifications.

Coffee Service
The Quality Coffee Certification Program (QCCP) is available at the National expo and the spring expo. In addition, there are three specific Coffee Service educational sessions at the NAMA expos. Providing industry information and quality educational tracks for the Office Refreshment operator will continue to be the main goal of the Coffee Service Committee.

Diversity
NAMA and the committee will serve as a resource to assist and educate members and the industry on diversity. The committee will ensure that diversity is incorporated through training and education programs, at all NAMA expos and through publications and communications. The committee meets at one expo and has two conference calls per year.

Education
The NAMA Education Committee provides guidance to drive the NAMA professional development activities at the NAMA Expos. The Committee provides input on education program topics and speakers for NAMA educational offerings and plays a key role in the Expo education sessions as well as in piloting new education technology. Committee members serve as subject matter experts to speakers and consultants who work closely with NAMA to develop these programs.

Ethical Standards
The National Automatic Merchandising Association, together with our members, recognizes our obligation to serve our industry and the public, including our customers, clients, employees and communities. We are committed to the highest standards of honesty, integrity and responsibility in the ethical conduct of our business. A member’s conduct in all matters shall reflect positively upon the industry. No member of NAMA shall engage in any action that might bring the Association and its members into disrepute.

Executive, Long Range Planning, and Membership Qualification
Established by the NAMA By-laws, functions as the Management Committee for the Board, acting with powers delegated to it by the Board. Comprised of the NAMA Board Officers, the immediate Past-Chairman and other Directors as appointed by the Chairman with the consent of the Board. The Chairman of the Board chairs the Executive Committee and the President serves as Secretary.

Finance and Audit
Established by Board Directive, functions as the oversight Committee for NAMA finances and audit. Reviews and advises the President on operating statement, reserve position and investment matters, as well as financial policy and procedures. Comprised of the other members of the Executive Committee and is chaired by the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. The Chief Financial Officer serves as Secretary.

Government Affairs
This committee advises and recommends policy to both the NAMA Board of Directors and NAMA staff. The committee often meets in tandem with the State Council Officer Meeting where many of the important legislative issues affecting the industry are discussed. Some recent industry successes in the government affairs area include sales tax exemptions for the purchase of vending machines in Illinois and for all food and beverage sales through vending machines costing 75¢ or less in New York. "Over the years our collective efforts have helped enact many laws to help create a favorable business climate for vending, as well as prevent adverse legislation which would have hurt the industry," said Committee Chairman Dod Hamre.

Industry Image
NAMA's Image Committee has been working in several areas (ie: direct mail, Image Video, surveys, etc.) to change the negative impressions many have about our industry. The Image Committee responds to attacks against vending and coffee service, writing letters and encouraging industry-wide response against organizations continuously misrepresenting our industry.

Membership
The committee convenes regularly, usually at the Expos, to discuss matters that affect the quality and growth of NAMA membership. All NAMA members are encouraged to take an active role in promoting NAMA membership to all companies associated with the Vending/Coffee Service industry.

Operating Statistics
The Operating Statistics Committee oversees two surveys conducted by NAMA of Operator Members. The Operating Ratio Report offers benchmarks and insights into key profitability drivers. This is an annual survey conducted during the first quarter of the year. The Wage, Rates and Benefit Survey is a biannual survey compares methods of payment, wage rates and fringe benefits to vending, OCS and commissary employees. This survey is conducted during the third quarter.

Retirement
Established by Board Directive, functions as the oversight committee for the NAMA Employee Pension Plan. Reviews and advises the President on asset investment performance, actuarial review and Plan compliance with legal and IRS regulations. Comprised of the other members of the Executive Committee and is chaired by the Immediate Past-Chairman of the Board. The Chief Financial Officer serves as Secretary.

Technology Working Group
This group is comprised of representatives from manufacturers of coin mechanisms, bill validators, card readers, control boards, and vending machines along with vending software companies and vending operators. The Working Group is responsible for maintaining the MDB/ICP Specification and works with the European Vending Association’s Standards Committee on maintaining the EVA-DTS Specification. Meetings are held prior to the NAMA Spring and National Expos to discuss current specifications and any proposed corrections, additions or deletions to the either specification.

Trade Show Advisory
Meets annually to review Expo results, plans and ideas. Members also serve throughout the year by advising on issues and act as ambassadors to new exhibitors. Members include supplier, operator, brokers & distributors.
